Savin Rock and Washington schools joined together Thursday, March 30th for their annual Literacy Night! This year, author Abdul Razak-Zachariah came to read his book The Night is Yours. Abdul is a West Haven native and is currently attending Harvard. Students were captivated by his book and enjoyed meeting a real author!




Washington’s Fourth Grade Chorus did an exceptional job at their spring concert today! Our students showed off their incredible talent in front of their parents, family, and friends who were in attendance. The Chorus performed 4 songs while student artwork was on full display.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, Internet Safety Concepts will visit West Haven High School to provide information about the internet that every family should know. This presentation is for adults only. There will be a pre-presentation reception that begins at 5:45 pm in the WHHS Lobby, followed by the presentation at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. The West Haven PTA Council is a co-sponsor of the event and will be providing the food during the reception, as well as door prizes to those in attendance. Please RSVP by April 26, 2023! 3rd and 4th graders at Washington School learned about recycling today through West Haven’s Food Scrap Co-Collection Program and Recycling! This workshop is being funded by DEEP’s Sustainable Materials Management (SSM) awarded to West Haven for the food scrap co-collection pilot program. DEEP’s grant was established to reduce trash, reduce costs, and benefit the environment.

The University of New Haven Dental Hygiene Program will be hosting a 'Give Kids a Smile' Event! Free preventive services will be provided for kids and adolescents, aged 3-18. Please see the flyer below for more information.



The United Way of Greater New Haven teamed with lady athletes from the University of New Haven to share the love of reading with new books. Each classroom was gifted three new books for their classroom libraries. Some of the titles included “Those Shoes”, “Mae Among the Stars”, “The Rabbit Listened”, “Malala’s Magic Pencil”, and “The Color Monster”.
