Fourth grade students from across West Haven Public Schools visited WHHS for a special performance presented by the Theatre Workshop. The show featured beloved fairytale stories and was enjoyed by all. The Theatre Workshop students did an outstanding job creating a fun and exciting experience for the visiting students. 🎭✨

Last night, West Haven Public Schools held its annual Unsung Hero Award Dinner, bringing the community together to recognize individuals who make a difference each day. From teachers to front office staff to security guards and many more roles, our district is supported by people who care deeply about their work and the students they serve.
Those honored have gone above and beyond in their roles. Their efforts often take place behind the scenes, but they play an important part in keeping our schools running smoothly. While it is always a team effort, this night was set aside to recognize their contributions.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, West Haven Public Schools students were recognized last night at the Land Trust of West Haven “Poet-Tree” Celebration, with winners from Pagels, Seth Haley, Washington, Forest, Mackrille, Carrigan, Bailey, and WHHS. Poems will be displayed along the boardwalk near the bocce courts in the coming weeks. We are incredibly proud of our students 🌿📜

Today, Washington Elementary and Mackrille Elementary Schools hosted Mayor Borer and Summer Weidman from the CT Agricultural Experiment Station for an engaging discussion on protecting Connecticut’s lakes and ponds. Students explored the wildlife that depends on these ecosystems and learned about invasive plant species and efforts to control their spread. The visit concluded with students receiving Earth Day themed word searches and seeds to take part in upcoming celebrations. Thank you to both guests for sharing their time and knowledge 🌎🌿✨

The Wellness Committee hosted an Easter Egg Hunt this past weekend at Haley School’s playground. Staff and their kids joined in on the fun, organized by Washington School teacher Bianca Whitaker with help from WHHS students and a special visit from the Easter Bunny 🐣🐰🌸
