Welcome to Washington Music!
My name is Katie Schuessler and this is my first year teaching at Washington and Mackrille Schools. I am very excited to be working with your children!

I will be updating this page once every 10 day rotation to keep you updated on what we are doing in music class.
**Our Fourth Grade Concert is on May 14th at 6:30. We hope all of our 4th grade students and parents can be there!**

Pre-K - Experiencing music: Listening to different instruments, singing basic children's songs (ex. Wheels on the Bus, Old MacDonald, etc.). Using books to connect with music as well.
Kindergarten - Carnival of the Animals
Rotation 1: Lion and Chickens
Rotation 2: Tortoises and Elephants 
1st - Form in Music: Learning about the different ways music can be formatted and the different order the different parts can be in
Rotation 1: AB form - "Jim Along Josie"
Rotation 2: ABA form - "Shoo Fly"
Rotation 3: AABA form -"Sarasponda"
Rotation 4: Rondo form (ABACA) - "La Raspa" Folk Dance
2nd - Instrument Families - Learning about the different instruments in each of the 4 instrument families.
Rotation 1: Woodwinds
Rotation 2: Brass
Rotation 3: Strings
Rotation 4: Percussion
Rotation 5: Review of all instrument families
3rd 
Recorder: Beginning "Recorder Karate" - students will learn to play one song proficiently to earn each "belt" 
Rotation 1: Giving out white belts for "Hot Cross Buns" and beginning yellow belt song: "Gently Sleep"
Rotation 2: Continuing "Gently Sleep"
Rotation 3: Beginning belt tests for "Gently Sleep"
Rotation 4: Continue tests for "Gently Sleep"
Rotation 5: Finishing "Gently Sleep" and beginning "Mary Had a Little Lamb"
4th - Recorder: Learning new songs for our Spring Concert
Rotation 1: Middle Eastern Tune from "Recorders without Borders" book
