Welcome to Washington Music!
My name is Katie Schuessler and this is my first year teaching at Washington and Mackrille Schools. I am very excited to be working with your children!

I will be updating this page once every 10 day rotation to keep you updated on what we are doing in music class.

*Our 3rd Grade Winter Concert will be held on January 15th at 6:00 P.M. in the gym. We hope to see everyone there!*

Pre-K - Experiencing music: Listening to different instruments, singing basic children's songs (ex. Wheels on the Bus, Old MacDonald, etc.). Using books to connect with music as well.
Kindergarten - High and Low sounds: finding the difference between high sounds and low sounds, and differentiating between high and low & loud and quiet.
Rotation 1: "Higher Than a House" and "Andy Pandy"
1st - Steady beat vs. Rhythm - Steady beat always stays the same, but the rhythm changes with the words of the song.
Rotation 1: "Engine Engine Number Nine"
Rotation 2: "Queen, Queen, Caroline"
Rotation 3: "Burnie Bee"
2nd - Conversational Solfege - learning how to sing using solfege syllables and hand signs
Rotation 1: "Aunt Dinah"
Rotation 2: "Bobby Shafto"
Rotation 3: "Great Big House in New Orleans"
Recorder: Learning how to play and care for an instrument.
Rotation 1: Learning our first note, G, reading and playing rhythms, and getting a good tone on the recorders.
Rotation 2: Composition: Taking quarter notes and half notes and putting them in an order that students like, and then performing them. Students will also write their rhythms.
Rotation 3: Continuing to work on good tone and G, beginning to add the note A.
Rotation 4: Combining the notes G and A in patterns
Rotation 5: Adding B and playing "Hot Cross Buns"
Rotation 6: Finishing "Hot Cross Buns" and starting "All Through The Night"
Rotation 7: Continuing "All Through The Night"
4th - Reading Music: Learning note duration, how to read the staff, and reading rhythms to be able to read music.
Rotation 1: Note Value Bingo
